Our off-grid home in Townsville, Nth Queensland, was crafted by a volume builder and designed to be energy efficient without foregoing luxuries. Winner of HIA Greensmart awards.
Grid-connected hempcrete
We owner-built a passive solar, hempcrete house in Tasmania. Connected to the electricity grid, it has a battery backup, heat pump, double-glazing, recycled materials, and natural finishes.
Inner west passive house
We converted a shopfront home in Melbourne’s inner west into a passive house. The house started life as any other beautiful heritage home in the area: brick, and on a small, long block.
1940s renovated for warmth
Yarragon, Victoria. Our home has been converted from being cold and draughty to being more comfortable, cheaper to run, and an energy-efficient cottage.
Passive solar upper storey
Perth. We added a passive solar upper-storey to a 1970s brick-and-tile home. It has been designed to maximise access to cooling, sea breezes, and the northern winter sun.
Generates own power & water
Braidwood, NSW. My passive solar home works with the environment and creates its own power and water. It's filled with natural light and has very little power and water bills.
Passive solar self-sufficiency
Inverloch, Victoria. Our home is a passive solar design based on freely available house designs. It features thermal mass walls, timber flooring, solar, batteries, and a water and waste management system.
Owner-built strawbale
Ballarat, Victoria. Our strawbale home is an example of what you can create with a modest budget and the ideals of living in a comfortable, low-cost, off-grid, and interesting family home.
